Bunny With A Mission

Image
I don't feel so good because I couldn't join the Meeting Of Style at Sungai Kelang, LRT Pasar Seni on 4-5 Dec 2010. I heard that they are doing graffiti there. Talking about graffiti, I love to see graffiti art by Banksy . I did this artwork using Inkscape and it was inspired from Banksy's rat stencil masterpieces... Actually, I have another mission for this bunnies artwork... hopefully, not a wall bomb a.k.a graffiti stencil coz I'm not into it... yet

KOSTEM Logo Design

Image
KOSTEM stands for Koperasi Sumber Terbuka Malaysia Berhad which will be the first cooperative organization that supports open source movement in Malaysia. This is my first suggestion for KOSTEM logo: The idea originates from Open Source logo which is green and look like a disc. I'm adding hands to that original open source logo which make it looks like human body with raised hands. The image of human with raised hands means freedom. Then, I align the logo to look like Malaysian official flower, The Hibiscus to put Malaysian sense to the logo. And finally, an open padlock in the middle which means, we are an open community. The original Open Source Logo If you like it, please vote for it to be the first KOSTEM logo. If you have any other opinions, feel free to leave your comment here.

Got Idea?

Image
After digging my old blog post, I decided to play around with halftones and screentones effect today. All done using Inkscape and GIMP . This is why I like having this blog to keep my arts and resources. Because when I don't have any idea what to do, I can dig my old arts and search for my previous ideas. Heheh...

My imagination today... Oh, yes... how do you see my new blog layout?

GIMP Practice: Ya Habibi Ali Baba

Image
I'm trying to practice my drawing skill again today. So, I clean up my old wacom tablet and do a quick sketch of P.Ramlee being the 40 Thief's Leader in Ali Baba Bujang Lapok movies. It is an old school movies. But still, it is more popular than the latest movies. I plug my wacom on my Ubuntu PC and draw this using GIMP. I found the background on my downloaded stocks and tweak it to this drawing so it looks grungy. Hope you like it I'm thinking about changing this blog layout too... maybe later.

Vector Graphics - Muay Thai

Image
Martial Arts is another part of my artistic world. And this time, I'm thinking about Muay Thai, also known as Tomoi in Malaysia. The word Muay derives from the Sanskrit 'mavya' and Thai comes from the word Tai. Muay Thai is referred to as the "Art of Eight Limbs" or the "Science Of Eight Limbs" because it makes use of punches, kicks, elbows and knee strikes, thus using eight "points of contact", as opposed to "two points" (fists) in Western boxing and "four points" (hands and feet) used in sport-oriented martial arts. A practitioner of Muay Thai is known as a nak muay. Western practitioners are sometimes called nak muay farang meaning foreign boxer. Refering from a picture found on google image, I redraw this in Inkscape. Kickboxer fans may like to use this vector for their DIY t-shirt design or maybe stickers for their club. Just download my Inkscape Scalable Vector Graphic here: Download SVG Hope you like it

Rudies Couple Riding Scooter

Image
Rude Boys and Rude Girls is the name that we use to describe fans of SKA music genre. This term have been used since late 1970s, started by the revival of two-tone SKA. In 1960s, the first rude boys were associated with the poorer sections of Kingston, Jamaica, where ska, then rocksteady were the most popular forms of music. They dressed in the latest fashions at dancehalls and on the streets. Many of these rude boys started wearing sharp suits, thin ties, and pork pie or Trilby hats; inspired by United States gangster movies, jazz musicians and soul music artists. In that time period, disaffected unemployed Jamaican youths sometimes found temporary employment from sound system operators to disrupt competitors' dances (leading to the term dancehall crasher). This — and other street violence — became an integral part of the rude boy lifestyle, and gave rise to a culture of political gang violence in Jamaica. As the Jamaican diaspora grew in the United Kingdom during the 1960s,
